CHP's Enis Berberoğlu makes an interesting comparison for Erdoğan: "The Chief Illusionist"
Speaking at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), CHP Istanbul MP Enis Berberoğlu compared AKP President Erdoğan to a "chief illusionist" and added: "He may think he is governing Turkey. We are approaching the end of the time allotted to him very rapidly."

Speaking at the TBMM General Assembly, CHP Istanbul MP Enis Berberoğlu said, "Ahmet Özer has been lying alone in Silivri for 51 days. For thousands, tens of thousands of CHP voters, Ahmet Özer is still in office. When this illusionary order, which you call judges and prosecutors, collapses, he will return to his post. I am asking very clearly; you have been writing, drawing, and slandering for 51 days. Where is the indictment? Let someone explain what Ahmet Özer is accused of. A phone call from 10 years ago... Do you know what we would encounter if we went back 10 years in your group? No one buys the illusion of accusing Ahmet Özer of terrorism," he said.
Deliberations on the 14th, 15th, and 16th articles of the 2025 Central Government Budget Law Proposal and the articles of the 2023 Central Government Final Account Law Proposal continue at the TBMM General Assembly.
CHP Istanbul MP Enis Berberoğlu stated the following:
"Welcome to the great illusion show. The greatest honor of parliamentary regimes is their budget. We have been pretending to make a budget here for 7 years. Let's say, although it wouldn't happen, that this Parliament did not like this budget, did not approve it, and sent it back. What would happen; would the Minister fall, would the cabinet resign, or would the President leave office? No... The inflation difference would be added to this year's budget and we would continue on our way. It means someone else is making the budget, someone else is spending it, and the illusion falls to us.
AHMET ÖZER HAS BEEN IN SİLİVRİ FOR 51 DAYS
My badge says 'Mayor Ahmet to duty.' Ahmet Özer has been lying alone in Silivri for 51 days. A phone call from 10 years ago. Do you know what we would encounter if we went back 10 years in your group? No one buys the illusion of accusing Ahmet Özer of terrorism. Neither a terrorist nor a PKK member can be made out of Ahmet Özer. If you are looking for links to terrorism in the past, do not forget this week is the December 17-25 week. Is there any terrorist better than FETÖ?
If you find a single line, a single article, a single sentence, or a single photo where I defended or praised Ergenekon, let alone resigning from the party or parliament, I will resign from humanity. I wish the members of the ruling party would not accept December 17-25 as a milestone and could present a 20-25 year history of fighting FETÖ like I have; they cannot.
As the AKP, you do not know how to lose. However, the first thing to learn in democracy is how to lose. When one loses, one should not be a sore loser or resort to mudslinging.”
“I don't know what the Chief Illusionist is thinking. He may think he is governing Turkey. We are approaching the end of the time allotted to him very rapidly.”
In his speech, Berberoğlu criticized President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's remarks about "shaking down" municipalities, saying, "When you lose a municipality, you shouldn't cling to the hem of those municipalities and use the word 'shake down.' What are you shaking down?" Stating that "You think this is very original, it is not, my brother," Berberoğlu recalled the election campaign of the SHP under the chairmanship of Erdal İnönü in the 1989 local elections, saying, "'Stand up against the government that squeezes you like a lemon, drains your juice, and threatens you with not providing services, and blackmails you.' What happened in the 1989 local elections? It wiped them out. The SHP left almost no ANAP municipality across the country. I fear your end will be like that too at this rate. Because you cannot establish a relationship with the voter through blackmail. It is that simple. I don't know what the Chief Illusionist is thinking. He may think he is governing Turkey. He may try to convince the public that every good thing comes from him and every bad thing stems from the CHP mentality. But like all illusions, this one also has a duration. We are approaching the end of the time allotted to him very rapidly,” he said.
