A new phase has been reached for the Ümraniye-Kavacık-Beykoz metro line planned for the Anatolian Side of Istanbul. With a Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette, the authority for the project's construction has been transferred to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
Under the scope of decision number 11628, the line has been included among the urban rail system projects to be undertaken by the ministry. This paves the way for the planning, tendering, and construction processes of the project to be carried out by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
The regulation was implemented through an addition to the "Decision Regarding the Determination of Conditions for the Undertaking, Takeover, and Subsequent Transfer of Urban Rail Transportation Systems, Metros, and Related Facilities by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure."
The new line is expected to offer a rail system alternative to the high transportation demand along the Ümraniye business centers, Kavacık, and Beykoz axis. The project aims to increase public transportation capacity, particularly in areas where road traffic is heavy.
Following the completion of the project by the ministry, it is envisioned that the line will be transferred to the relevant institution in an operational state. Technical details such as the final route, station information, and construction schedule are expected to be shared with the public in the coming period.
