Decision reached regarding student who shot school principal and his father! Footage of the incident emerges

A terrifying incident occurred at around 08:30 at Çarıklar Rüştü Kazım Yücelen Secondary School in the Çarıklar neighborhood of Anamur, Mersin. A student, M.K. (12), approached school principal Ender Kara (39), who was sitting in front of the school, and fired at him with a rifle. Upon notification, health and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the area. Kara, who was seriously injured, was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Gendarmerie teams detained the child at the school. While the unlicensed rifle used in the incident was seized, the father, Y.K. (55), was also detained under the instructions of the Anamur Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. After their statements were taken at the prosecutor's office, the father and son were referred to the duty court on charges of attempted murder due to the victim's public duty and incitement. The suspect father was arrested for incitement, and his son for attempted murder, by the court they were brought before.

GOVERNOR'S OFFICE HAD ISSUED A STATEMENT REGARDING THE INCIDENT

In a statement regarding the incident, the Mersin Governor's Office said: "On 22.12.2025, at approximately 08:30, at Çarıklar Rüştü Kazım Yücelen Secondary School located in the Çarıklar neighborhood of our province's Anamur district, a student named M.K. wounded School Principal E.K. in the abdominal area with a rifle in the schoolyard. The wounded School Principal E.K. was immediately taken to the hospital, and his treatment is ongoing. The student who carried out the incident has been detained, and a judicial and administrative investigation has been initiated into the matter."

On the other hand, it was reported that the school principal, who was transferred to a hospital in Mersin, is continuing his treatment in the intensive care unit.
