With the regulation made within the scope of the Highway Traffic Regulation, a requirement to have a camera system and video recording device has been introduced for M2 and M3 class vehicles used in commercial passenger transport, public transport vehicles belonging to or authorized by municipalities, taxis, and dolmuş (shared taxis).

With the "Regulation on Amending the Highway Traffic Regulation" published in the Official Gazette dated August 19, 2025, a requirement was introduced for public transport vehicles to have a tracking and camera system, a video recording device, and an emergency button.

MANDATORY DATES DETERMINED BY MODEL

The requirement introduced under the regulation will be implemented gradually according to the vehicle model:

For 2025–2023 model vehicles: 01.01.2026,

For 2022–2018 model vehicles: 01.01.2027,

For 2017 and older models, these systems must be present in the vehicles by 01.01.2028.

Vehicles that do not have the necessary equipment by the specified dates will not be able to receive approval during their first inspection due to this deficiency.

IMPLEMENTATION WILL BEGIN WITH THE NEW YEAR

The application will come into effect in approximately 2 months.

The mandatory camera system for taxis, minibuses, buses, and shuttle vehicles will officially begin to be implemented from the beginning of 2026.

If cameras are not installed in vehicles covered by the mandate, there will be a risk of both receiving a fine and failing the inspection.

HOW MUCH ARE CAMERA PRICES?

The prices of vehicle cameras start at approximately 2 thousand liras.

Prices increase depending on the device's image quality, memory capacity, and features such as night vision.
