A fire broke out for reasons yet to be determined in the machine room of a hotel in the Payallar neighborhood of Alanya at around 07:30 in the morning. The small number of tourists inside were quickly evacuated by staff. While the heavy smoke caused panic, fire crews from the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and the gendarmerie were dispatched to the scene.

The fire was brought under control before it could spread, thanks to the rapid intervention of the teams. No serious casualties were reported in the incident, though it was noted that one hotel staff member was slightly affected by smoke inhalation.

IT HAD BEEN SEALED PREVIOUSLY

Following the fire, attention has once again turned to the hotel's legal status. It has emerged that Alanya Municipality teams had sealed the hotel in question multiple times in the past, and that legal proceedings had been initiated for the crime of "breaking a seal." It was learned that the hotel had been operating without a license and had faced administrative sanctions repeatedly due to various regulatory violations.

INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED

An official investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire and the safety measures in place at the time of the incident. It was reported that the sealing orders, which have come back into the spotlight with the fire, as well as the business's operating permits, will be subject to inspection.
