The 12th meeting of the reconciliation process created controversy in Parliament. The 12th meeting regarding the reconciliation process was held at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) on September 24. 51 deputies attended the session, which was presided over by the Speaker of the Parliament.

One of the notable figures at the meeting was Yüksel Genç, who is known to have been in the PKK's mountain cadre for 4 years in the past. Genç gave a speech on "democracy" during the session.

While the participation sparked debate in the public eye, IYI Party deputy Turhan Çömez expressed his reaction on his social media account.

In his post, Çömez used the following expressions:

"Do you know who was invited to the 12th meeting of the Persuasion Commission? Someone who was an active terrorist in the PKK's mountain cadre for 4 years, Yüksel Genç... I suppose they said, 'If it can't be the monster of Imralı, let it be this one for now.' And 51 deputies, including the Speaker of the Parliament, received a 'democracy' lesson from someone who came from the PKK's mountain cadre in the Gazi Parliament, the manifestation of the national will. A shameful day in the history of the Parliament!"
