Ministry releases the list: They fed citizens poison, not honey!

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry continues to expose companies that disregard public health and operate in the market with imitation and adulterated products.

Following its latest inspections, the Ministry has updated its list of imitation and adulterated products. A notable name appeared on the list published on March 11, 2025.

It was determined that fraud was committed in honey products belonging to the company GURME ŞARKÜTERİ AVM UMUT EREN - ELİF LEYLA BİLGE, which is widely sold and well-known in the market.

In its statement, the Ministry reported that the flower honey and honeycomb produced by the company contained ingredients that violated quality standards.

MIXTURE OF FOREIGN SUBSTANCES

Analyses conducted in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry laboratories revealed that foreign substances were mixed into the content of the honey products in question. It was noted that these foreign substances completely compromise the naturalness of the product and pose a risk to human health.

The Ministry urged citizens to be cautious against such fake products produced through deceptive methods and emphasized that inspections will continue without interruption. The names of the companies and products added to the list will continue to be announced to the public.

HOW TO IDENTIFY FAKE HONEY?

Experts state that there are several practical ways to distinguish fake honey from the original. Here are the ways to identify fake honey:

- Be careful if the consistency of the honey is overly runny, as real honey usually has a denser structure.

- Crystallization is not always an indicator of naturalness; some fraudulent honeys may contain artificial sweeteners.

- Pay attention to differences in color and smell. The scent of genuine honey is distinct and natural.
