Five years ago in Muğla, a passenger approached Cihan Altın, who was working as a municipal bus driver for the Metropolitan Municipality, and said, "Aren't you Kömürcü Orhan's son? Take this thousand liras and give it to your father. We owe him for the coal we bought," before getting off the bus.
According to a report by Ceyhan Torlak from Sabah; although Altın said, "I think you have confused me with someone else," the passenger who gave him the money replied, "You are the son of Orhan the coal merchant. Give my regards to your father," and walked away.
Her mother, Suzan Yıldırım, to whom she explained the situation, learned that while she was working at the courthouse in 1987, she had an illicit affair with businessman Orhan Karaca, and that she had given birth to her from this relationship and registered her under the civil registry of her legal husband, Yaşar Yıldırım.
Experiencing great sorrow and forced to leave his job, Cihan Altın has filed a paternity suit against businessman Orhan Karaca (63).
A DNA test conducted after exhuming the grave of Yaşar Yıldırım, who was listed as the father on the civil registry, revealed that he was not the biological father of the individual, who had died in a traffic accident at the age of 6.
As a result of the DNA analysis conducted, it was determined that Orhan Karaca (63) is the biological father with a 99.9 percent probability.
Altın, who was registered to Orhan Karaca's civil registry, also became a partner in his 15 real estate properties and his 100 million fortune.
She also won a 355 thousand lira compensation lawsuit she filed due to the non-recognition of paternity.
“I WILL DONATE IT TO THE CHILD PROTECTION AGENCY”
Altın said, "I found out who my real father was at the age of 31 when a passenger coincidentally came up to me and said, ‘Give my regards to your father.’ It was finalized by a court ruling."
"However, he did not act as a father to me. I grew up without a father. I also have a daughter. I am trying to be the best father I can to her. I will donate the 355 thousand lira compensation I won to the Child Protection Agency for children who, like me, grew up without a father," he said.
“IT BECAME THE SECOND PRECEDENT CASE”
His lawyer, Varol Turbay, stated the following:
“The significant legal aspect of this case is that the Court of Cassation and the Regional Court of Justice have now established a precedent in their new rulings, allowing for non-pecuniary damages to be awarded without waiting for the final outcome of a paternity suit.”
