He had traveled from Ankara to Giresun: The reason behind the 28,591 lira taxi ride has been revealed
The story behind the taxi journey of a businessperson who paid 28,500 lira to travel from Ankara to Giresun has been revealed. While it was initially thought that the trip was due to an urgent matter, it was learned that the businessperson's true goal was to make it to a jumping event held once a year in Artvin. The effort he put in for a jump that lasted only 8 seconds after a journey exceeding a thousand kilometers has drawn attention.

Giresun-based businessperson Zafer Günaydın explained that while he was in Ankara, he had to postpone his plans due to a relative's health issue, but once the hospital procedures were completed, he raced against time to make it to the jumping event in Artvin that he had planned months in advance.
Stating that they evaluated transportation options, Günaydın said there were no direct flights and that connecting flights and bus travel would not have allowed them to reach the event in time. He stated that they then decided to set off by taxi.
"AFTER FINISHING OUR BUSINESS AT THE HOSPITAL IN ANKARA, WE HAD TO GET TO GIRESUN URGENTLY"
Stating that they reached Giresun during the night, Günaydın recounted his experience with these words:
"After finishing our business at the hospital in Ankara, we had to get to Giresun urgently. There were no direct flights, and if we had come by bus, we wouldn't have made it. We explained the situation to our taxi driver friend, Adem. He brought us to Giresun without any hesitation. We chatted along the way and were in Giresun around 01:00 at night. I paid the taxi fare of 28,500 lira."
THE MAIN GOAL WAS TO MAKE IT TO THE EVENT IN ARTVIN
After the taxi journey became a topic of discussion, Günaydın explained the real reason, stating that the primary purpose of the trip was to participate in the jumping event held at the Deriner Dam in Artvin.
"Actually, we had made preparations with our friends 2-3 months in advance for the jumping event held at the Deriner Dam in Artvin. This event is held once a year. I had to cancel it due to a relative's health problem. Once our business at the hospital was finished, we had no other choice to make it to the event. Neither a plane nor a bus was suitable. That's why we came by taxi."
ROAD COMPANIONSHIP TURNED INTO FRIENDSHIP
Explaining that his friends were calling him constantly throughout the journey, Günaydın said he noticed the taxi driver was initially worried.
"On the road, my friends were constantly calling, asking 'Where are you, when will you arrive?' I kept saying, 'Wait, I'm coming.' I noticed the taxi driver friend had become quiet during that time. However, after we reached Giresun, seeing our hospitality and after I paid the fare in full, he said, 'Brother, if you want, I can take you all the way to Artvin, it's not a problem for me.' We ate together and chatted along the way. We formed a beautiful friendship."
A THOUSAND-KILOMETER ROAD, 8 SECONDS OF ADRENALINE
Expressing his surprise that the journey became news, Günaydın said, "I was also surprised when I saw the news about the taxi driver in the media after this journey, which cost approximately 28,500 lira. This topic was being discussed in many places I went. When I said, 'I am the person who came to Giresun by taxi,' there were those who didn't believe me. I even encountered people making jokes about the incident in my presence without knowing it was me. But the kind words the taxi driver said about Giresun made everything worth it."
After the approximately 28,500 lira taxi ride, Günaydın participated in the jumping event in Artvin and performed his jump, which lasted about 8 seconds, in the event he had planned months in advance.
