IETT driver who caused accident in Kadıköy found to be intoxicated

Two people were injured in an accident in Kadıköy where an IETT bus crashed into barriers. It was determined during checks that the driver had a blood alcohol level of 0.42 promille.

The accident occurred around 07:30 on the D-100 Highway, near Uzunçayır in the direction of Pendik. According to allegations, the driver of the IETT bus with license plate 34 TR 0450 got behind the wheel while intoxicated, lost control of the vehicle while driving, and crashed into the roadside barriers.

As a result of the impact, passengers Ö.S. and A.C. were injured.

Upon notification, health, fire, and police teams were dispatched to the scene. The injured, who received initial intervention at the scene, were taken to the hospital by ambulance.

It was learned that the driver had a blood alcohol level of 0.42 promille according to checks conducted by police teams.

While the bus, which became embedded in the barriers, was rendered unusable, an investigation into the accident has been launched.
