Most recently, a 25 percent price hike on the 399.90 lira internet tariff by TürkNet was met with great backlash from millions of users.

The fact that the current tariffs of internet service providers such as Türk Telekom and Superonline are also above these prices has caused an outcry among millions of users, especially students. The first response to the call of citizens, who state that internet is a necessity today just like bread and water, came from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM).

RESTRICTION REMOVED, NOW COMPLETELY FREE

In these days when we are feeling the effects of inflation deeply, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) has given citizens news that feels like a relief. The 60 GB data cap applied to IMM Wi-Fi has been removed, and free and unlimited internet access is now provided at many points in Istanbul.

While it was previously possible to use up to 60 GB of free internet on IMM Wi-Fi, this limit has been removed in cooperation with the IMM Department of Information Technology and İSTELKOM.

Citizens can now browse the internet, play online games, watch movies, and communicate with their loved ones with unlimited internet access at many points in the city. Istanbul residents will be able to benefit from IMM Wi-Fi for free and easily by downloading the Istanbul Senin application.
