The Istanbul Governor's Office, based on the latest assessments by the General Directorate of Meteorology, has issued a warning for precipitation and strong winds in the city. According to the statement, Istanbul is expected to come under the influence of a rainy system starting from the morning of Friday, August 28, 2026.
The Governor's Office announced that air temperatures will hover 4 to 6 degrees below seasonal norms starting tomorrow. It was stated that the rainy system will also be felt over the weekend in the city, which has been experiencing stifling weather due to high humidity in recent days.
The statement reported that the rainy weather is expected to leave Istanbul on Saturday evening. Temperatures are expected to rise again starting Monday, returning to around seasonal norms.
The wind is forecast to blow from the north at moderate, and at times strong, speeds on Friday and Saturday. It was noted that wind speeds could reach 40-60 kilometers per hour on Friday and 30-50 kilometers per hour on Saturday.
