It has been announced that the major fuel sector company Türkiye Petrolleri (TP) has been sold. It was stated that Zeren Group, the owner of Alpet, has acquired TP.
IT HAD PREVIOUSLY PURCHASED ALPET
According to a report by Toygun Atilla from Patronlar Dünyası, Zeren Group has taken a significant step in the energy sector by acquiring Türkiye Petrolleri. The new owners of this major company, which has more than 800 fuel stations, have solidified Zeren Group's presence in the energy sector. Zeren Group, which previously drew attention in the sector by purchasing Alpet, will determine its strategy for the Türkiye Petrolleri brand and a potential merger with Alpet based on the decision of the EMRA (Energy Market Regulatory Authority).
Having added Alpet to its portfolio in recent months, Zeren Group is demonstrating rapid growth in the energy sector. Under the leadership of the company's Chairman of the Board, Mustafa Yiğit Zeren, Zeren Group is also conducting negotiations to acquire Turkland Bank (T-Bank), which is jointly owned by the Lebanese Hariri family's Bankmed and the Jordanian Arab Bank.
COMPETITION BOARD APPROVAL PENDING
Operating in various sectors such as energy, tourism, logistics, manufacturing, and food and beverage, Zeren Group provides services in 5 different countries. Founded in 1963, Türkiye Petrolleri continued its operations as TP Petrol Dağıtım A.Ş. starting in 2009 and was acquired by Turkuaz Petrol, a subsidiary of Zülfikarlar Holding, in 2017.
Zeren Group's acquisition of Türkiye Petrolleri is seen as a move that will change the balance in the energy sector. Whether the Alpet and Türkiye Petrolleri brands will merge will depend on the decision to be made by the EMRA. With a storage capacity of 307,000 m3, 9 filling facilities, and over 800 fuel stations, TP Petrol Dağıtım A.Ş. is a significant player in the sector. Growing day by day under the leadership of Chairman of the Board Mustafa Yiğit Zeren, Zeren Group Holding operates in 8 different sectors with 23 brands across 4 continents. The transfer of Türkiye Petrolleri to Zeren Group is awaiting approval from the Competition Board.
