Mansur Yavaş makes statement regarding water cuts in Ankara

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş shared important information regarding the water cuts experienced in Ankara ahead of the 2nd Ordinary Union Assembly Meeting of the Union of Historical Towns. While emphasizing that water shortages are being experienced across the country due to drought, Yavaş explained the measures taken to prevent water cuts in Ankara.

Yavaş said, "Dear residents of Ankara, there is a water shortage due to drought. However, we have taken all our measures to ensure there are no water cuts for the people of Ankara. While 233 million cubic meters of water flowed into the dams in the first 9 months of last year, only 121 million cubic meters of water have arrived this year."

Stating that the Gerede Project has also been affected by the drought, Yavaş expressed that they have been forced to rely on water coming from Kesikköprü. He said that this situation has caused GRP-type pipes to burst frequently, leading to temporary water shortages. Yavaş added, "Once the steel pipes are laid, water supply will begin, and there will be no water cuts for approximately 5 months."

Yavaş stated that they would take different measures if there is no rainfall, adding, "These days will be overcome in a short time, and we will continue to provide regular water. However, everyone needs to use water without wasting it to prevent water cuts." He also expressed his apologies, stating that the bursting of the pipes was an uncontrollable situation.
