Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that both judicial proceedings have been initiated and an administrative fine has been imposed on the driver who was traveling at 324 km/h on his motorcycle in Hatay.
In a post on his social media account titled "The necessary action has been taken," Minister Yerlikaya stated the following:
"No one has the right to endanger the lives of others... The reckless traffic monster named A.Ç., who disregarded traffic safety by performing acrobatic maneuvers on a motorcycle on the highway in Erzin, Hatay, and by speeding and changing lanes repeatedly, has been caught. The necessary action has been taken, and we will continue to do so."
Reminding the public of the sanctions envisioned under the New Traffic Law Proposal in his post, Yerlikaya continued his statement as follows:
"Although the speed limit for this motorcycle on the highway route where the traffic violation occurred is 100 km/h, the motorcycle was traveling at 324 km/h... Once the New Traffic Law Proposal is enacted, the motorcycle of this driver, who was traveling at 324 km/h, will be banned from traffic for 120 days. The driver's license will also be suspended for 150 days.
We have a single goal: to ensure we do not lose our lives in traffic accidents."
