New detention in threats against Atlas Çağlayan's family

A new development has occurred regarding allegations of threats against the family of 17-year-old Atlas Çağlayan, who lost his life in a knife fight in Güngören. A suspect has been detained in Diyarbakır.

On January 14, at around 20:20, an argument broke out between two groups on Emek Street in the Mehmet Nesih Özmen neighborhood of Güngören after they left a cafe, allegedly because of a "glance." The verbal altercation quickly turned into a fight. During the scuffle, E.Ç. (15) wounded Atlas Çağlayan (17) with a switchblade.

Atlas Çağlayan, who was seriously injured, could not be saved despite all interventions at the hospital where he was taken. Following the incident, E.Ç. was caught with the weapon used in the crime, detained, and subsequently arrested by the court and sent to a juvenile detention center.

Within the scope of the investigation, it was determined that threatening messages were sent to the family members of Atlas Çağlayan via telephone after the incident. In this context, 5 suspects were arrested, and judicial control measures were applied to 1 person.

According to information provided by journalist Burak Doğan, M.Y.K., born in 2007, who is alleged to have threatened the family, was detained in an operation carried out in Diyarbakır. It is reported that the investigation is ongoing.
