The Grand National Assembly of Turkey General Assembly convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Celal Adan. Nine more articles were accepted during the deliberations of the "Draft Law on Amendments to the Social Services Law and Certain Laws."
PATERNITY LEAVE TO BE GRANTED TO WORKERS AS WELL
With the accepted regulation, the 10-day paternity leave granted to civil servants whose spouses give birth has been expanded to include male workers.
MATERNITY PERIOD INCREASED TO 16 WEEKS
With the amendment, the "maternity period" in social security legislation has been increased from 8 weeks to 16 weeks. The regulation covers insured female employees, men who are entitled to rights through their non-insured spouses, and those who are self-employed.
In this context, health conditions and disabilities that arise in the postpartum process from the date of pregnancy will be evaluated within the scope of "maternity" for a longer period.
NEW CONDITIONS FOR TEMPORARY INCAPACITY BENEFIT
Payments will be made to insured women provided that at least 90 days of short-term insurance premiums have been reported in the year prior to birth. The allowance will be provided for 8 weeks before birth and 16 weeks after birth. In cases of multiple pregnancies, 2 weeks will be added to the pre-birth period.
WORKING PERIOD UNTIL BIRTH CHANGED
According to the new regulation, female employees will be able to work until 2 weeks before birth with the approval of a physician. In the event of premature birth, unused periods will be added to the post-birth leave.
TAX DEDUCTION FOR DARÜLACEZE DONATIONS
With the amendment made to the Corporate Tax Law, donations and aid made to Darülaceze will be deductible from the corporate tax base.
MATERNITY LEAVE INCREASED FOR TSK PERSONNEL
The paid post-birth leave period for female personnel serving in the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) and affiliated institutions has been increased from 8 weeks to 16 weeks. Thus, the total paid maternity leave period has become 24 weeks.
