Nihat Genç laid to rest

Journalist and author Nihat Genç has succumbed to the lung cancer he had been battling for some time. Genç, who had been receiving intensive care treatment at Gazi University Hospital for approximately one and a half months, was intubated on June 3. Genç, who passed away on July 4, remains in memory as one of Turkey's independent voices.

FAREWELL AT KOCATEPE MOSQUE

A funeral ceremony was held for Nihat Genç today at the Kocatepe Mosque in Ankara following the afternoon prayer. Emotional moments were experienced during the ceremony, and his family struggled to stand. Following the funeral prayer, Genç's body was interred at the Gölbaşı Cemetery.

HIGH ATTENDANCE AT FUNERAL, GREY WOLF SYMBOL DRAWS ATTENTION

A large number of citizens attended Genç's funeral ceremony. The crowd reflected a broad segment of people who knew him through his ideas, read his writings, and followed his speeches. One of the notable details at the ceremony was the presence of the "grey wolf" figure, a symbol of Turkish mythology.

ARTIST KIRAÇ AND CVP MEMBERS WERE ALSO AT THE CEREMONY

Artist Kıraç, as one of Genç's closest friends, was present at the funeral and did not leave him alone. Additionally, members of the Republican Patriots Party (CVP) were also at the ceremony.

MANSUR YAVAŞ WAS BY HIS SIDE ON HIS FINAL JOURNEY

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş, who had previously visited Nihat Genç in the hospital, did not leave him alone at his funeral. In a post on his social media account, Yavaş described Genç as a "brave pen" and stated the following:

“I learned of the passing of journalist and author Nihat Genç with deep sadness. He spent his life without deviating from the path he knew to be right, making the country's troubles his own. His words were harsh, but his heart was full of the people of this country. His courage, his pen, and his faith will always be remembered. I wish God's mercy upon him and offer my condolences to his family and loved ones.”
