Number of vehicles with unauthorized flashing lights revealed

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya shared the number of vehicles with unauthorized flashing lights (çakar) detected last week. According to the statement made by Yerlikaya;

Between June 20 and June 27, 2024, our Police and Gendarmerie Traffic Teams inspected 2 million 786 thousand 451 vehicles.

Legal action was taken against 189 drivers who installed and used devices with light or sound warning signals (flashing lights) on vehicles not permitted by legislation.

Along with other procedures, including 140 thousand 947 for speeding violations, 29 thousand 308 for vehicles without periodic inspections, 16 thousand 678 for not wearing seatbelts, 14 thousand 433 for driving without a license, and 10 thousand 587 for lacking mandatory financial liability insurance; a total of 433 thousand 207 vehicles/drivers were processed.
