Following the acceptance of the indictment for the murder of former Ülkü Ocakları President Sinan Ateş, a significant development has occurred.

SUBMITTED POSTS TO THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE

The testimony of Ayşe Ateş, which was not included in the indictment, has been revealed.

According to the report by Asuman Aranca from T24; in her 17-page testimony, Ayşe Ateş stated that her husband, Sinan Ateş, served as the President of the Ülkü Ocakları for 15 months between 2019 and 2020, and prior to that, he worked as an advisor to MHP Secretary General İsmet Büyükataman for 12 years, noting, "My late husband had no hostility toward anyone before his presidency of the Ülkü Ocakları. However, after his tenure as Ülkü Ocakları President, rumors were constantly spread and news reports were published with the aim of discrediting him, isolating him, and excluding him from the nationalist (Ülkücü) community, of which he had been a member and to which he had dedicated himself since his childhood, by claiming he had FETÖ affiliations or had betrayed the Ülkü Ocakları."

Noting that a new appointment was later made to the Ülkü Ocakları presidency and that individuals in the administration began to openly and publicly make social media posts and publish news on various websites containing accusations such as "FETÖ member" and "fire of betrayal," Ateş also submitted visuals of these posts to the prosecutor's office.

"AHMET YİĞİT YILDIRIM WAS ORDERING THE NEWS REPORTS"

Ateş summarized the following in the continuation of her testimony:

"In a conversation I had with my late husband regarding the news reports made about him, he told me that a news report titled 'A fire of betrayal' was published on March 4, 2022, on an internet news site called Orhun Haber, which is under the control of Ülkü Ocakları Education and Culture Foundation Chairman Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım and managed by an individual named Kadir Ensar Ejder, who serves as a deputy chairman. Again, according to what my husband told me, these and similar news reports made by this news site about my husband were actually ordered by the then-Chairman of the Ülkü Ocakları Education and Culture Foundation, Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım. The same news was also shared on various social media accounts of this internet news site. My husband filed a criminal complaint against the managers of the Orhun Haber website and the social media managers of this news site regarding these news reports and posts, but the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office decided not to prosecute on the grounds that the legal elements of the crime were not met. In the investigation conducted by the prosecutor's office, a decision of non-prosecution was made against an unknown suspect without even conducting an investigation to identify the managers of the site and social media accounts that made the posts subject to the crime. My husband appealed this decision, but his appeal was rejected. My husband requested that access to the 'A fire of betrayal' news report on the Orhun Haber internet news site and the links to this news shared on the social media accounts of the same site be blocked, but this was also rejected."

NO PUBLIC CASE HAS BEEN FILED

Following the news report made by the Orhun Haber internet news site, posts containing baseless accusations targeting my late husband were made continuously and systematically on the social media accounts of the same news site in the following days. Following these posts, various insults and threats against my late husband were made by individuals who were in the central administration of the Ülkü Ocakları Education and Culture Foundation at that time, individuals serving at various levels, individuals in the Ülkü Ocakları administrations of many provinces, and numerous fake social media accounts. I am also submitting these posts. Criminal complaints were filed by my late husband with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding these posts made by accounts identified as real users, and although it is clear and obvious that these posts contain criminal elements, no public case has been filed against any of them yet.

HE HELD NO GRUDGE AGAINST YILDIRIM AND KILAVUZ

As someone who had served as the President of the Ülkü Ocakları and dedicated his life to the nationalist cause, my husband did not want to harm the legal entity of the Ülkü Ocakları; therefore, he did not hold a grudge against the Ülkü Ocakları Chairman Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım, who carried out these character assassinations and smear campaigns, the individuals in his administration, or MHP Mersin Deputy and former Ülkü Ocakları Chairman Olcay Kılavuz, and he did not resort to any unlawful means.

4 ARMED INDIVIDUALS

On March 10, 2022, my husband told me that four people came in front of the office he used in a black Volkswagen vehicle with license plate 06 AT 2020, which is used by the Ankara Ülkü Ocakları, and waited in front of the office building. Regarding this matter, he sent a message to his friend Ömer Çağrı Özdemir on March 10, 2022, via WhatsApp, sending a picture of the vehicle waiting in front of the office and saying, 'Ankara Ocak sent 4 armed people.' I am submitting the screenshot of this conversation as an annex to my testimony. I request that Ömer Çağrı Özdemir also be called to testify on this matter.

"MY HUSBAND'S MESSAGES SHOULD BE EXAMINED"

In the WhatsApp correspondence between my late husband and Ömer Çağrı Özdemir dated March 11, 2022, my husband sent Ömer Çağrı Özdemir a message that was understood to have been forwarded to someone else by an individual named Selahattin Avaroğlu, and in the message, it is seen that the individual says, '...I started following Orhun Haber because I received a call to follow it as it is the account of the headquarters.' If I were to convey this based on this message and what my husband told me; the Orhun Haber news site is managed by the Ülkü Ocakları Headquarters. Ülkü Ocakları members were also forced to follow the social media accounts of the Orhun Haber website and make posts against my late husband by being called by the Ocak Headquarters managers and by instructions written in WhatsApp groups where Ocak members are located. Looking at the similarities in the post contents I have submitted, it is clear and obvious that the posts made against my husband were managed by a center. My husband's phone is in judicial custody and under examination, and when the messages sent to him via the WhatsApp application are examined, it will be seen that there are messages sent to him on this matter.

THEY ALSO THREATENED ÜNEL, WHO MADE A SUPPORT POST

Following the news reports of the Orhun Haber internet news site, the posts made against my husband from the social media accounts of this news site and from accounts that are clearly understood to be profiles of members of the Ülkü Ocakları organizations, individuals who served as Ocak Presidents in various provinces during the period when my late husband was the Ülkü Ocakları Chairman and who were also his personal friends were called by the Ülkü Ocakları Headquarters managers and asked to remove their posts supporting my husband against the baseless news reports. Çağrı Ünel, who served as the Mersin Ülkü Ocakları President during my late husband's term and was dismissed after my husband, also made posts on his own social media account supporting my husband against the baseless news reports about him. Upon this, an individual named Ömer Şanlı, who is the Deputy Chairman of the Ülkü Ocakları Education and Culture Foundation, called Çağrı Ünel and asked him not to support my husband and to remove the posts he made. Çağrı Ünel said that he would not remove his posts, that he was a friend of my late husband, that he was no longer an Ocak President, and that they could not give him instructions. Ömer Şanlı then threatened Ünel by saying, 'In that case, you will bear the consequences.' Ünel conveyed this conversation to my late husband by calling him on the phone while he was with me. My husband also warned him to be careful, saying, 'They have gone too far, they don't know when to stop, please take care of yourselves, may God protect you.'

"THE ATTACK ON ÜNEL WAS CARRIED OUT ON YILDIRIM'S INSTRUCTIONS"

A short time after this conversation between my husband and Ünel, an attack was carried out in Mersin against Ünel with knives and clubs by approximately 10 people whom we heard were members of the Adana and Osmaniye Ülkü Ocakları. During the scuffle that occurred with the attack on him, Ünel used his weapon to defend himself, and a young man named Emrullah Kaplan, whom we learned was a member of the Kadirli Ülkü Ocakları, lost his life at the scene. I request that Ünel's testimony be taken regarding these conversations between my late husband and Ünel, and the details of the pressure and threats made against my husband by the Ülkü Ocakları Headquarters managers to Ünel. It is obvious that this attack on Ünel was carried out on the instructions of Ülkü Ocakları Chairman Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım.

"YILDIRIM THREATENED MY HUSBAND"

In the press statement made by Yıldırım after the attack in Mersin, he used the expressions, 'We will follow the legal process closely and hold all centers that instigated and supported this vile attack accountable in the most severe way...' and my late husband was again targeted and openly threatened that he would be held accountable in the most severe way."

"THEY HAVE DECIDED TO KILL ME, ÖMER BROTHER"

Ateş also submitted the conversation that took place on March 16, 2022, one day after the attack on Ünel, between her husband and his friend Ömer Çağrı Özdemir. According to the correspondence submitted by Ayşe Ateş, who noted that her husband's friend Cahit Özdemir was also attacked, Sinan Ateş says the following to Özdemir in the conversation between the two: "My friends have decided to kill me, Ömer brother, they are constantly straining the environment, sending news here and there, calling, etc. A dog that doesn't know how to bark brings wolves to the flock, they want new people to die," "That's how it is, Reis, they are inciting 18-19-year-old children, they also sent a team to Cahit, if what happened in Mersin happens in Bursa, God forbid."

THEY ALSO SENT MEN TO CAHİT ÖZDEMİR, WHO SUPPORTED MY HUSBAND

Ayşe Ateş continued her testimony as follows:

The people my husband meant in the messages are the Ülkü Ocakları Education and Culture Foundation Chairman Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım and the people in his administration. In addition to the incident in Mersin, Cahit Özdemir, who is a personal friend of my late husband and served as the Bursa Ülkü Ocakları President during the period when he was the Ülkü Ocakları Chairman, also made support posts for my late husband on his social media accounts following the baseless news reports made about my late husband. From the message content I shared, it is clearly understood that an attack was also intended to be carried out against Cahit Özdemir because he supported my husband. During this process, my husband had also expressed to me that he was being followed and that an attack could be made against him. By using expressions such as 'My friends have decided to kill me, Ömer brother' in his correspondence with Ömer Çağrı Özdemir, he clearly expressed that there were follow-ups and death threats against him."

"A MEETING WAS HELD FOR THE ÜNEL ATTACK"

Ateş submitted another conversation between her husband and Özdemir to the file. According to the correspondence submitted by Ateş, who stated that her husband forwarded some messages sent to him to Özdemir in this correspondence, the following conversations took place between the two regarding the attack on Ünel in Mersin:

"Your Tayfun from Gaziantep. He says that it is being talked about like that in Mersin"

"It is being talked about that Olcay, Ahmet, Doğan Güzelay, and one more person, maybe Ejder, sat down one day before the incident"

THEY CALLED KRT

From these messages, it is understood that before the attack carried out in Mersin, MHP Mersin Deputy and former Ülkü Ocakları Education and Culture Foundation Chairman Olcay Kılavuz, current Ülkü Ocakları Education and Culture Foundation Chairman Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım, an individual referred to as Doğan, Ülkü Ocakları Education and Culture Foundation Deputy Chairman Deniz Güzelay, and another Ülkü Ocakları Education and Culture Foundation Deputy Chairman Kadir Ensar Ejder came together and planned the attack to be carried out against Çağrı Ünel in Mersin. My late husband had told me many times that the attacks made against him through the media, the events that took place in Mersin, and the activities carried out against him in the ongoing processes were planned by the current Ülkü Ocakları Education and Culture Foundation Chairman Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım and MHP Mersin Deputy Olcay Kılavuz, who served as the Ülkü Ocakları Education and Culture Foundation Chairman before him, acting together."

DEMİRBAŞ TOLD MY HUSBAND'S FRIEND, "THE OCAK HAS BROKEN HIS PEN"

Stating that Tolgahan Demirbaş, who appears as an instigator in the case's indictment, went to Haluk Türk, a friend of her husband, and said that he was sent as an envoy by Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım and Olcay Kılavuz, Ayşe Ateş continued as follows:

"This individual told my husband's friend, 'Don't stand by Sinan Ateş, brother, the Ocak has broken his pen, don't get hurt yourself.' Haluk Türk told this to my husband, and my husband told me. Apart from what the individual named Tolgahan Demirbaş said to him when he came to him, I think he may have made posts about the threats made against him by my husband. I request that Haluk Türk's testimony be taken regarding who told the case suspect Tolgahan Demirbaş that the decision to kill my husband was made, what else the person told him, and any information he may have regarding the threats made against my late husband."

"THEY DELETED THE TWEETS"

My late husband was in Istanbul one day before the assassination carried out against him. He had published a photo he took there on his social media accounts along with a Friday celebration message on 30/12/2022, the day the incident took place. Following this post, posts containing threats and insults, which clearly indicate that my husband was threatened with death, were made by a group of people, most of whom are members of the Ülkü Ocakları Istanbul Provincial Presidency. I am also submitting these posts. The same accounts removed these posts after the assassination carried out against my husband. As can be understood from these posts, a group of people who are members of the Ülkü Ocakları have been holding a grudge against my husband for a long time and threatening him at every opportunity. I request an investigation into whether there is a connection between the people involved in my husband's murder and the people who made these posts on the day he was killed."

REQUESTED THE REPORT ON DEMİRBAŞ

My late husband had told me that the baseless news reports made against him were staged by Ülkü Ocakları Chairman Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım and some people in his administration acting together with Olcay Kılavuz, that Olcay Kılavuz also acted hostilely toward him, and that these people acted together. In the murder of my late husband, Tolgahan Demirbaş, who is under arrest, was mentioned in the press intensively immediately after the assassination carried out against my husband, in the form of the hitman being smuggled from the scene, hidden, and being caught and detained at Olcay Kılavuz's house. As far as I learned from the press, this individual was detained and released twice, and was arrested after being detained for the third time. News that Tolgahan Demirbaş was first detained at Olcay Kılavuz's house, and that Olcay Kılavuz did not want his house searched because he had parliamentary immunity, and did not want to hand this person over to law enforcement, has been frequently expressed in the press since the day my husband was killed. In fact, it is also frequently stated in the press that the law enforcement report stating that the individual named Tolgahan Demirbaş was detained at Olcay Kılavuz's house is not in the Prosecutor's file. In this regard, I request that it be clarified whether the said apprehension report is in the Prosecutor's file, if this report exists, where the individual named Tolgahan Demirbaş was detained and caught, whether the place where this person was detained in the said report is a residence or a house belonging to someone, if he was taken from a residence, whether it belongs to the person named Olcay Kılavuz, whether the person named Olcay Kılavuz was present in that residence, and that a copy of the report where this person was first detained be given to me."

"I THINK KILAVUZ WAS ALSO INVOLVED IN THE ASSASSINATION"

When Tolgahan Demirbaş's statements to Haluk Türk about my husband, the issues my husband expressed to me about Olcay Kılavuz, the messages he received after the incident that took place in Mersin on 15/03/2022, the expressions about Olcay Kılavuz in the WhatsApp conversation he forwarded to his friend named Ömer Çağrı Özdemir on 16/03/2022, and the fact that the individual named Tolgahan Demirbaş was detained and caught at the house of the individual named Olcay Kılavuz after the assassination carried out against my husband are evaluated together, I am of the opinion that the individual named Olcay Kılavuz was also involved in the assassination carried out against my husband. I request that the individual named Olcay Kılavuz also be included in the investigation and that it be investigated in detail whether he was involved in the murder of my husband."

DEMİRBAŞ AND KILAVUZ'S HTS RECORDS SHOULD BE EXAMINED

If there is no finding in the report prepared during the first detention of the individual named Tolgahan Demirbaş that he was taken from the house of the individual named Olcay Kılavuz, I request that the HTS records of the GSM line used by Tolgahan Demirbaş on the date of the incident and the GSM lines used by Olcay Kılavuz, and the Base Station data at the time of detention and before, be examined in detail. In addition, I request that the telephone conversation traffic and messaging traffic that may have taken place between these individuals before and after the assassination carried out against my husband be investigated, and since it is highly probable that the individuals spoke over the internet, the Base Station data regarding where the GSM lines used by the individuals received signals before, during, and after the incident be investigated and included in the scope of the file."

POLICE OFFICERS SHOULD BE ASKED

I request that the statements of the law enforcement officers who carried out the detention and apprehension procedures in the report regarding the first detention of Tolgahan Demirbaş within the scope of the file be taken in detail regarding where and how this person was detained. Furthermore, news is constantly being reported in the press that Olcay Kılavuz resisted the handing over of this person to law enforcement and the carrying out of the apprehension and detention process. I request that this issue also be asked to and answered by the law enforcement officers whose names are on the apprehension and detention report in detail. In addition, I request that the vehicles used by the individual named Olcay Kılavuz on the day of the incident, before and after, be identified, and that the transit routes of these vehicles from the License Plate Recognition System be identified and their connection with other suspect individuals be determined."

CAMERA RECORDS SHOULD BE EXAMINED

After the assassination carried out against my husband, allegations that the moment of the attack was recorded from behind by a person or persons other than the attacker have been frequently brought to the agenda in the press. It was seen in the press that the attack incident against Çağrı Ünel in Mersin mentioned above was also recorded by the attackers. When this reality that emerged in this incident and these allegations that frequently took place in the press after the assassination carried out against my husband are evaluated together, I am of the opinion that these allegations are highly likely to be true. In order to clarify this issue, I request that the security cameras of workplaces, buildings, and similar places that see the scene of the incident be examined in detail. If the moment of the attack was recorded on camera as alleged, I request that the person/persons who made the recording be identified and included in the investigation as suspects. I also request that it be investigated in detail to whom the camera recording made by this person/persons was sent and that the investigation be expanded in terms of the people to whom the images were sent."

"PROTECTION-ALLOCATED VEHICLE SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED"

After the assassination carried out against my husband, there are allegations in the press that a protection-allocated vehicle with license plate 06 AT 5021 escorted the hitmen from Istanbul and was used again to smuggle the perpetrators after the incident. In order to clarify these allegations and the investigation, I request that it be determined in whose name this vehicle is registered, who used it, its toll booth passage information before the date of the incident, on the day of the incident, and after the incident, its transit routes from the License Plate Recognition System, its user on those dates, and who was in this vehicle, and that these individuals be identified by comparing base stations with other suspect individuals in line with the identified routes and the information of the people in this vehicle. I also request that the same identification and investigations be carried out for other vehicles if there are any on this matter."

YILDIRIM AND KILAVUZ ARE THE COMMON POINT

The individual named Emre Yüksel, who is under arrest in the file, was serving as the Deputy Chairman of the Ülkü Ocakları Education and Culture Foundation on the date of the incident. The individual named Serdar Öktem, who is also under arrest in the file, is a lawyer in Istanbul and served as a deputy chairman during the term of Ülkü Ocakları Education and Culture Foundation Chairman Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım. And as far as I heard, he was a very close and old friend of Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım. The individual named Tolgahan Demirbaş, who is also under arrest in the file, was serving as a unit president at the Ülkü Ocakları Headquarters on the date of the incident. The common denominator where all the names and events I mentioned in my testimony are gathered is the individuals named Ülkü Ocakları Chairman Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım and Olcay Kılavuz. I request that the connections of the individuals who are suspects within the scope of the file with these two individuals before and after the incident and their connections with each other be investigated in detail."

"COMMITTED IN AN ORGANIZED MANNER"

Ateş also requested that the 2 special operations police officers who brought the hitman from Istanbul to Ankara be investigated, saying, "As family members, from the first day of the assassination carried out against my late husband until today, we have expressed that our belief is full that the investigation will be carried out with sensitivity by our State and all institutions of our State. Clarifying the investigation regarding this heinous event in all its aspects, investigating and revealing all the perpetrators involved in the incident, and punishing them is also of great importance in terms of preventing our state and its institutions from being left under suspicion. Although there is a confidentiality order within the scope of the file, it is seen from the news reflected in the press that people with political duties, public officials, and people convicted of criminal organizations are suspects within the scope of the file. It is not possible for these people to come together in the ordinary flow of life, and it is clear that this crime was committed by bringing these people together in an organized manner, and that this event was carried out in a planned and systematic manner.

"THE ÜLKÜCÜ COMMUNITY WAS ALSO HARMED"

Just as we, as family members, have been harmed by this event, this assassination carried out against my husband, who dedicated his life to the Ülkücü movement and the nationalist cause, has also cast suspicion on the entire Ülkücü community, and after us, the family members, it has caused the greatest harm to the Ülkücü community. This assassination carried out against my husband did not only result in the death of one person; in terms of its consequences, it is an incident that has political and social consequences beyond being a judicial case. Considering the profiles of the suspects who took part in the incident at different stages, the fact that the place where the incident occurred is one of the most central points of the Capital, the fact that my husband was a person known for both his political and academic personality throughout the country, the fact that the incident occurred before the elections that are of great importance for our country, and the fact that the incident caused great sadness and outrage in every segment of society, I request that the investigation be expanded by requesting information and documents from all institutions of the state, including intelligence units, if deemed necessary, in order to reveal the judicial dimension of the event and the political and social consequences intended to be obtained from the event in all its aspects. I am a complainant against all suspects," she said.
