Snow disrupts education in 5 provinces

Following warnings from the General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM), snowfall continues to affect many parts of Turkey.

Governorates and district governorships have announced the suspension of education in consecutive statements. Education has been suspended in Bitlis, Muş, Kastamonu, Karabük, and Bartın, where heavy snowfall is being observed.

Here are the statements issued by the governorates and district governorships:

- Bitlis Governorate:

"On Monday, April 14, education has been suspended for one day in all public and private educational institutions (kindergartens, primary schools, middle schools, and high schools) and rehabilitation centers across the central district of Bitlis, as well as the Güroymak, Mutki, and Tatvan districts. In the Ahlat district, bussed education has been suspended for one day. In these districts, our pregnant and disabled public employees, mothers whose children attend daycare or kindergarten, and personnel with chronic illnesses will be considered on administrative leave."

- Muş Governorate:

"According to the latest meteorological assessments, as the snowfall affecting our province is expected to continue tomorrow, due to the risk of icing, on Monday, April 14, 2025,"

education has been suspended for 1 (one) day in all public and private formal and non-formal educational institutions (excluding universities) throughout our province. Pregnant, disabled, and severely chronically ill personnel working in public institutions, as well as our female personnel whose children attend kindergarten and daycare, will be considered on administrative leave for 1 day."

- Karabük Governorate:

"Due to the ongoing snowfall, icing, and adverse weather conditions in our Eflani district, education and training have been suspended for (1) day on Monday, April 14.

Respectfully announced to the public."

- Ulus District Governorship:

"In accordance with the decision taken by the District Public Health Board, education and training have been suspended for 1 day on Monday, April 14, for our students who access their schools via busing services, covering all levels of formal and non-formal education institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, as well as private teaching courses and special education and rehabilitation centers throughout our Ulus district."

- Kastamonu:

Education via busing has been suspended tomorrow in the Şenpazar and Devrekani districts of Kastamonu, while all educational institutions in the Pınarbaşı district will be closed.

The statements made on the social media accounts of the district governorships noted that snowfall and icing are affecting the region.

It was reported that due to adverse weather conditions, bused education has been suspended in the Şenpazar and Devrekani districts, while all educational institutions in the Pınarbaşı district will be closed tomorrow.
