Terrifying moments of the fire in Kocaeli caught on camera

The initial moments of the fire at a perfume filling facility in the Dilovası district of Kocaeli, which resulted in the loss of 6 lives, have been captured on security cameras.

A fire broke out yesterday morning at a 2-story perfume filling facility located on Mimar Sinan Street in the Mimar Sinan neighborhood of Kocaeli's Dilovası district. The fire, which grew rapidly due to the chemical substances in the warehouse, engulfed the entire building. As a result of the tragedy, 6 workers, including 2 child workers, lost their lives. 7 people were injured, 1 of them critically.

The identities of those who lost their lives have been determined. Esma Dikan, a mother of 3; Hanım Gülek (65), a mother of 3; Şengül Yılmaz (55); Nisa Taşdemir (17); Tuğba Taşdemir (18); and Cansu Esatoğlu (16) lost their lives in the tragedy.

While the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, it was revealed that 15 people were employed at the facility without insurance. As part of the ongoing investigation, 3 people, including the business owner and shift supervisors, were detained in operations conducted in Kocaeli and Yalova.

It emerged that the factory had been reported to CİMER in December 2024. The Ministry of Labor and Social Security announced that 7 people have been suspended.

MOMENT THE FIRE STARTED RECORDED

Security camera footage of the first moments of the fire revealed the horror of the incident. In the footage, it was seen that the smoke rising from the facility turned into an explosion in a short time, causing great panic in the surrounding area.

Moments were recorded showing some citizens running to their vehicles with the sounds of explosions, while others watched the incident with curiosity.
