The era of artificial intelligence in traffic

General Directorate of Security (EGM) traffic units began using speed violation detection systems produced with domestic and national resources under the coordination of the Presidency of Defense Industries as of June 14, 2024.

According to the report by Hürriyet, the new generation mobile speed detection devices were actively used in speed violation (radar) inspections on all highways, including motorways. Most recently, radar inspections on all roads during the 9-day Eid al-Adha holiday were also carried out with these devices. The new radar system is used by gendarmerie traffic teams as well as traffic police.

NO OPERATOR NEEDED

The new generation mobile speed detection device (radar) stands out with its many features. The device, which can be installed on a tripod or a vehicle, reads the license plate and speed data of vehicles traveling on the highway without the need for an operator. The data sent to the EGM PolNet network is automatically queried by the system for speed violations, and violation data is instantly reported to traffic teams. Thus, the necessary legal actions are taken against the driver who violates the rules in real-time. The device, which can distinguish vehicle types using artificial intelligence without a database query, can detect the speeds of all vehicles, including those in 4 lanes in the same direction on highways. The device, which can perform speed detection day and night in all weather conditions, has begun to be actively used on all roads, including motorways.
