The final day is here, holiday returns accelerate: Traffic congestion on the Tekirdağ–Istanbul road

Thousands of people who spent the Eid al-Adha holiday in eastern Thrace, Çanakkale, the Gulf of Saros, and the Aegean coast have begun their journey back to Istanbul. On the final day of the holiday, traffic congestion was observed, particularly on the Tekirdağ–Istanbul highway.

The congestion peaked around Yenice, Yeniçiftlik, Beyazköy, and Marmaraereğlisi; long queues formed at times. 

Police and gendarmerie teams maintained order with 81 units and 455 personnel. Drivers were frequently warned regarding speed control, following distance, and the prevention of improper overtaking. Traffic inspections were also carried out at intersections to enhance road safety.

Transportation authorities stated that the congestion may continue tomorrow. During this period, it is recommended that drivers adhere to speed limits, wear their seatbelts, and take breaks during their journeys.
