The justice mechanism has stepped in regarding the struggle of 320 owners in Zeytinburnu to defend their rights. The controversial demolition order, which the municipality implemented while ignoring legal procedures and notification laws, was blocked by a stay of execution issued by the court at lightning speed.

JUDICIAL BRAKE ON PROCESS WITHOUT NOTIFICATION

Residents of the Denizatı Kent Site had raised their voices, stating that they had not received any official notification since 2023 and that their rights to defense and legal avenues for objection had been deliberately closed off. The owners, who claimed that a rent-based process was being operated under the guise of urban transformation on the massive land where the site stands, which is valued at 6 billion TL, had launched a legal battle to make their voices heard.

The demolition order, which the municipality notified on September 11, 2026, and scheduled for just two days later, on the morning of September 14 at 10:00, had effectively cornered the owners. However, the administrative judiciary came to the aid of the property owners against the violation of rights and irregularities. Examining the filed lawsuit for cancellation and stay of execution, the court acted with lightning speed to prevent irreparable damages and halted the demolition proceedings.

FAIR JUDICIAL SYSTEM DEFENDED THE RULE OF LAW

This rapid and fair legal development has refreshed citizens' faith in justice. The meticulousness and impartiality shown by the court against a controversial project that was intended to be implemented without any legal notification or the right to defense proved that one of the most critical safeguards of a state governed by the rule of law is still standing.

Thanks to the independent and impartial stance of the judiciary, while the property rights of citizens were secured, it was once again registered that the arbitrary and accelerated practices of administrative authorities could be caught in the legal filter.

THE STRUGGLE WILL CONTINUE ON LEGAL GROUNDS

While this critical decision by the court provided a deep breath of relief for the 320 site residents and their families who were facing the pressure of demolition, the owners, who stated that they would follow the process closely, emphasized that they would continue to utilize legal avenues to the fullest. It was stated that criminal complaints against unauthorized administrators, who are alleged to have harmed the process, and applications to CİMER would also be pursued with determination.

This decision, which shows that justice and the rule of law are still the strongest guarantees in Turkey, has become a beacon of hope for millions of citizens experiencing similar grievances.
