In a chain-reaction traffic accident that occurred in the Vezirköprü district of Samsun this morning, 7 vehicles collided, and 18 people were injured.
In the accident that took place around 07:40 on the Vezirköprü–Havza highway, a truck, whose brakes were believed to have failed, lost control and crashed into the vehicles in front of it.
As a result of the impact, a total of 7 vehicles were involved in the accident, including 1 truck, 1 school bus, 1 minibus, 1 highway maintenance vehicle, and 2 cars.
18 INJURED TAKEN TO HOSPITAL
Upon notification, numerous 112 Emergency Health teams were dispatched to the scene. A total of 18 people injured in the accident, 10 of whom were students and 8 adults, were taken to nearby hospitals after receiving initial intervention at the scene. 3 injured individuals in critical condition were transferred to Samsun.
It was reported that one student and the truck driver among the injured were taken under treatment in the red zone at Vezirköprü State Hospital, while the other injured individuals were treated in the yellow zone.
STATEMENT FROM DISTRICT GOVERNOR KAYA
Vezirköprü District Governor Özgür Kaya made the following statement regarding the accident:
"Around 07:40, a traffic accident occurred on the main Vezirköprü-Havza road involving a total of 7 vehicles—1 truck, 1 school bus, 1 minibus, 1 highway maintenance vehicle, and 2 private cars—after a truck, which according to initial findings had a brake failure, crashed into them. Our 18 injured citizens (10 students and 8 adults) were immediately transferred to the hospital by our 112 emergency medical teams who arrived at the scene. One of our students and the truck driver are being treated in the red zone of the Vezirköprü State Hospital Emergency Department, while our other injured are being treated in the yellow zone. The condition of our injured is being monitored by our doctors. A judicial and administrative investigation into the incident has been initiated, and information will be provided as developments occur."
