TÜİK announces life expectancy in Turkey
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has announced the life expectancy at birth for the 2021-2023 period.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has published its "Life Tables, 2021-2023" statistics. According to the data, life expectancy at birth across Turkey was calculated as 77.3 years. This figure was determined to be 77.5 years for the 2020-2022 period.
WOMEN LIVE LONGER
Life expectancy at birth was found to be 74.7 years for men and 80 years for women. Women live an average of 5.3 years longer than men. While the average remaining life expectancy for individuals at age 15, the start of the working age, was 63.5 years, this duration was determined to be 60.9 years for men and 66.1 years for women.
For a 30-year-old individual, the average remaining life expectancy was calculated as 49.1 years, with 46.6 years for men and 51.5 years for women. The average remaining life expectancy for a 50-year-old individual was recorded as 30.1 years. This duration was 27.8 years for men and 32.3 years for women.
While the remaining life expectancy for a 65-year-old individual was determined to be an average of 17.4 years, this was recorded as 15.7 years for men and 19 years for women. Women aged 65 are expected to live an average of 3.3 years longer than men.
LIFE EXPECTANCY BY PROVINCE
The province with the highest life expectancy at birth was identified as Tunceli. In Tunceli, this figure was determined to be 80.8 years. Tunceli was followed by Şırnak and Mardin with 79.7 years. The lowest life expectancy at birth was observed in Kilis with 76.1 years.
The province with the highest life expectancy at birth for women was Tunceli with 83.6 years, followed by Şırnak with 83.3 years and Muğla with 82.5 years. For men, the highest life expectancy at birth was seen in Tunceli with 78.1 years.
EDUCATION LEVEL HAS AN IMPACT
It was observed that the level of education affects life expectancy in Turkey. As the level of education increases, life expectancy also increases. Life expectancy by education level was calculated for the first time, and it was determined that the difference in life expectancy between individuals with low education levels and those with higher education levels is approximately 5 years.
