A 55-year longing: Kayhan, who grew up in Egypt, is in Turkey to search for his mother
Kayhan Kaan Alaybeyi, who was taken to Egypt by his grandmother when he was 3 years old, has been living with a longing for his mother for 55 years. Having come to Istanbul to search for his mother, Alaybeyi said, I have always lived with a longing for my mother. I have come to Turkey several times to find her, and I have applied to police stations and civil registration offices, but I could not reach my mother's information.

Kayhan Kaan Alaybeyi, who was taken to Egypt by his grandmother when he was just three years old, has been living with the longing to reunite with his mother for exactly 55 years.
Having come to Istanbul to find his mother, Alaybeyi explained in his statement that his mother and father parted ways in 1970, and that he subsequently went to Egypt with his grandmother and settled in Cairo.
Alaybeyi, who completed his primary, secondary, and higher education in Cairo, stated that he married there and has a daughter.
Describing that he has lived his whole life with a longing for his mother, Alaybeyi expressed that after his father passed away in 2015, his longing for his mother grew even stronger and he made more intensive efforts to find her.
Stating that he has come to Turkey many times during this process, Alaybeyi said that he searched for his mother's trail at police stations and civil registration offices but did not get any results.
Emphasizing that his mother and father were Turkish citizens and held no other citizenship, Alaybeyi noted that his mother's name appears as "İnci" in official records and that he saw through e-Devlet that his mother is still alive, stating, "I want to see her with my own eyes at least once. Every time I come to Turkey, I track her down, but I have never been able to reach her."
