Explosion at a flour mill in Çorum! 9 workers injured, 1 critically

An explosion at a flour mill in Çorum has left 9 workers injured, one of them in critical condition.

An explosion occurred in the packaging unit of a flour mill in Çorum. Upon notification, AFAD, fire department, police, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.

Nine workers were injured in the explosion at the flour mill located on Erzurumdede Street in the Mimar Sinan neighborhood.

The injured were transported by ambulance to the Hitit University Erol Olçok Training and Research Hospital and other private hospitals in the city.

Çorum Governor Ali Çalgan, Provincial Police Chief Arif Pehlivan, and Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Colonel Naim Çetinkaya arrived at the factory where the explosion took place to conduct an investigation.

Governor Çalgan told reporters that the explosion in the packaging unit was caused by air pressure.

Stating that 9 workers in this unit were affected by the explosion, Çalgan said, "One person was treated on an outpatient basis and discharged. The other 8 were taken to Erol Olçok Training and Research Hospital and two private hospitals. We just learned from our health director that 7 of them are in good condition. One is being treated with a diagnosis of third-degree burns. They stated that this person's condition is somewhat critical and serious, and that the other 7 patients will be discharged in a short time."

The Provincial Police Department's crime scene investigation teams examined the site of the explosion.

Meanwhile, the moment of the explosion was recorded by the factory's security camera.

IDENTITIES OF THE INJURED WORKERS REVEALED

It was reported that the individuals injured in the explosion are Zülfikar Tutuş, Necip Aslan, Ali Turp, Kenan Kazancı, Gazi Karakaş, Ümit Yıldırım, Nizamettin Bahar, Satılmış Kınıklı, and Mehmet Öztaş, and that Zülfikar Tutuş is in critical condition.
