An explosion that caused panic occurred in Konya during the night hours. The incident took place around 01:40 in an apartment building on Menzil Street in the Gaziosmanpaşa neighborhood of the Karatay district. According to the information obtained, a violent explosion occurred on the third floor of the four-story building.
Following the explosion, a fire broke out in the apartment. While it is estimated that the explosion was caused by natural gas, the local residents experienced moments of fear. Upon notification, fire, police, AFAD, and teams from the natural gas distribution company Gaznet, as well as medical teams, were dispatched to the area.
While the teams established a security perimeter at the scene, fire department personnel intervened in the flames and brought the fire under control in a short time. 12 people were injured in the disaster. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals by ambulances and placed under treatment. Authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation into the cause of the explosion.

Following the explosion, the Konya Governor's Office issued a statement on the X social media platform. The statement included the following expressions:
"On 05.05.2025, at approximately 01:40, a fire occurred as a result of an explosion, assessed to be caused by natural gas, on the 3rd floor of a 4-story building located on Menzil Street in the Gaziosmanpaşa neighborhood of our Karatay district. According to initial findings, 12 of our citizens were injured, one of them critically, and they have been transferred to hospitals by medical teams. AFAD, police, health, and fire teams are continuing their work on-site. We convey our best wishes for a speedy recovery to our injured citizens."
