Sabriye A. (26), a married mother of one, has recently come to the fore due to the horrific events she has experienced. The young woman, who is five months pregnant, stabbed her husband, Mehmet A. (26), in the minibus where he worked after he refused to let her see their child. Following this tragic incident, Sabriye A. tearfully recounted what she had been through and the violence she faced throughout her marriage.
"AN ARRANGED MARRIAGE TURNED INTO A NIGHTMARE"
Sabriye A. said that her husband, whom she married in an arranged marriage three years ago, initially worked as military personnel but soon spiraled into a gambling addiction. Stating that she had expressed her desire to divorce many times but could not escape her husband, the young woman alleged that Mehmet A. once came to the health clinic where she worked and tried to strangle her. She also noted that the incident was recorded by security cameras.
"VIOLENCE, IMPRISONMENT, AND INFIDELITY"
Explaining that she had been subjected to physical violence countless times throughout her marriage, Sabriye A. said she spent three months in prison once because she had filed a complaint against her husband. However, she stated that she withdrew her complaint and her decision to divorce for the sake of her child's future. Expressing that Mehmet A. was both dismissed from the army and continued his gambling habit, the young woman said her husband cheated on her and finally took their child away. She broke down in tears, saying, "I haven't been able to see my child again."

Sabriye A. said the greatest trauma she experienced was an indecent proposal that came from a man she did not know due to her husband's gambling debts. Stating that she spoke with her husband after this proposal was made to her, Sabriye A. said, "My husband was drunk and told me, 'Once won't hurt.' At that moment, he took my child and said he would never let me see him again."

Sabriye A. said she took immediate action when she learned that her child had been left with a drug-addicted relative. However, stating that she was blocked by her husband and his family, the young woman said she was longing for her child. "I haven't even been able to hear my child's voice for five days. I can't sleep at night; I am in a very difficult situation," she said, expressing her desperation.

Saying that she filed a complaint with the police to get her child back, Sabriye A. said, "A child's place is with their mother. Even a cat doesn't abandon its kitten, but I have been left longing for my son."
