Movie-like chase in Bartın: Suspect falls into a swamp while fleeing police during ID check
In Bartın, a driver fleeing from police during an ID check and the officers chasing him fell into a swamp one after another. The driver, who got stuck in the mud, and the two mud-covered police officers were rescued with the help of their colleagues.

Police were alerted after reports that a vehicle with license plate 51 BE 222, which had been seen swerving while traveling from İnkumu toward Bartın, was parked on the side of the road near the Cement Junction.
A.T., identified as the driver of the vehicle, stated that he was intoxicated and had passed out inside the car. When the police asked for his license, A.T. admitted that he had a learner's permit but had previously had it confiscated by the police. When asked for his ID, the driver first claimed it was in his car, then said he had forgotten it at the venue.
Upon learning that his identity would be verified through the system using his photo, the individual attempted to flee on foot. The police gave chase as soon as he started running. The individual, who ran along the sidewalk toward İnkumu for a short distance, headed toward the land on the side of the road when he realized he was about to be caught.
Two police officers, unable to see the canal due to the darkness, followed the suspect. Other colleagues rushed to the aid of A.T. and the two officers, who had fallen into the canal and become stuck in the swamp. The suspect, who was struggling in the mud and still trying to escape, was rescued with the help of the two officers in the canal and other officers on the sidewalk. Subsequently, the two officers stuck in the mud were also pulled out by their colleagues.
The suspect, who continued to resist and attempt to flee even after being rescued, was subdued with difficulty and handcuffed. The detained individual was placed in the back of a patrol car to be taken to the hospital for a medical report and then to the police station for questioning and processing.
The police officers, covered in mud during the chase, spent some time trying to clean their uniforms. Meanwhile, it was determined that one of the tires on the parked vehicle was flat, and the driver was found to have a blood alcohol level of 150 promille. The vehicle, which posed a danger on the side of the road, was towed to a parking lot for examination.
