The decision by the Supreme Election Council regarding the holding of local government elections in settlements that have gained town status has been published in the Official Gazette.
According to the decision, ballot boxes will be set up on June 7, 2026, in Yolüstü and Çevrecik in the Reşadiye district of Tokat, Bağtaşı in the Almus district, Tekke in the Gümüşhane city center, and Mustafapaşa in the Ürgüp district of Nevşehir. Voters in these settlements will cast their ballots to determine their mayors and municipal council members.
Furthermore, the decision emphasized the need to determine which political parties are eligible to participate in the elections. In this context, a list of 41 political parties with whom voter registries can be shared was also included.
