According to a survey conducted by the Cologne Institute for Economic Research (IW), approximately 35 percent of companies in Germany are planning layoffs. However, this rate was slightly higher at 38 percent last autumn.

At the same time, the proportion of companies planning to create more jobs has increased from 17 percent to 24 percent.

More than 2,000 companies participated in the six-month economic survey conducted in March and April. 35 percent of the companies are considering investing less this year compared to last year. In the autumn, this rate was 40 percent. Similarly, the proportion of companies expecting higher investment has risen from 23 percent to 28 percent.
