A 5.0 magnitude earthquake has occurred off the coast of Japan's Ibaraki Prefecture.

In a statement from the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), it was reported that the earthquake, which took place at 20:40 local time, was recorded at a depth of 60 kilometers.

The earthquake, which was also felt in the Tokyo, Tochigi, Chiba, and Fukushima prefectures in addition to Ibaraki, caused brief panic, while it was reported that there was no risk of a tsunami.
