A powerful earthquake has occurred near the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia's Far East. The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) announced the magnitude of the earthquake recorded in the region as 6.7.
According to the GFZ, the tremor, which originated at a depth of 10 kilometers below the Earth's crust, was initially assessed at a magnitude of 6.2. However, following subsequent analysis, this figure was revised first to 6.6 and then to 6.7.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) also confirmed the magnitude of the earthquake and reported that there was no situation that would pose a tsunami threat.
No official statement has yet been made regarding loss of life or property damage related to the earthquake.
