According to a report in the Dawn newspaper, a statement issued by the Pakistan Army's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) unit stated that a vehicle-borne explosive attack was carried out on a military post in the North Waziristan region, followed by "multiple suicide attacks."
The statement reported that 7 soldiers lost their lives in the suicide attacks.
The statement further noted that 2 officers lost their lives during the operation launched against the "terrorists" who carried out the attack, and that 6 "armed militants" who attacked were killed by security forces.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack, which he described as "cowardly," stating, "I and our entire nation are proud of our martyrs who sacrificed their lives."
President Asif Ali Zardari, in a statement on his X social media account, emphasized that Pakistan is determined to completely eradicate terrorism and expressed his condolences for the officers and soldiers who lost their lives in the attack.
