7.2 magnitude earthquake in Peru
A tsunami warning has been issued following a 7.2 magnitude earthquake in southern Peru.

A 7.2 magnitude earthquake has occurred 8 kilometers west of Atiquipa, south of Peru's capital, Lima.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) announced that the earthquake struck at a depth of 28 kilometers and issued a warning regarding tsunami waves reaching 1 to 3 meters along some of Peru's coasts.
The statement noted that there is no tsunami threat to the U.S. coastlines.
In a statement made via social media by the Office of the President of Peru, it was reported that the government is closely monitoring the situation and assessing potential damage.
It was announced that there were no casualties in the earthquake.
