A call for a ceasefire from the Pope! 'Stop, my brothers'
Pope Francis, the spiritual leader of Catholics and Head of State of the Vatican, has called for humanitarian aid to be allowed into Gaza and for the release of hostages. The Pope also stated, "War is always a defeat."

The Pope, who performed his traditional Sunday prayer from the window of his study overlooking St. Peter's Square in the Vatican, addressed the Israel-Palestine conflict following the prayer.
Stating that they continue to pray for the serious situation in Ukraine, Palestine, and Israel, as well as other regions at war, the Pope said, "Especially in Gaza, space must be opened to ensure humanitarian aid, and hostages must be released immediately. Let no one give up the possibility of laying down arms. Cease fire!"
Explaining that he had just listened to Father Ibrahim Faltas, who serves in the Middle East, in a program, the Pope said, "Together with Father Faltas, we say: cease fire! Stop, my brothers. War is always a defeat."
