A harsh blow from Trump to China: Customs duty doubled!

US President Donald Trump has made a decision to increase customs duties on China. Trump, who had previously signed a decree imposing a 10 percent customs duty on imports from China, announced that he has amended this regulation to raise the rate to 20 percent. He cited China's failure to prevent the flow of fentanyl into the US as the reason for this move. Trump stated, "China's failure to take the necessary steps to stop the entry of synthetic opioids, especially fentanyl, into America poses a serious threat to our national security, foreign policy, and economy."

Emphasizing that China has not taken sufficient measures against the illegal drug crisis, Trump stated that the customs duty on imports has been raised to 20 percent for this reason. Trump, who imposed a 10 percent customs duty on imports from China with a decree he signed on February 1, reminded that this regulation went into effect as of February 4. Having previously signaled that additional taxes on China could increase, Trump once again demonstrated his tough stance on trade policies with this latest step.
