No elections will be held in New Caledonia throughout 2025. Only those born on the island or those who have resided there continuously for at least 15 years will be able to participate in the municipal elections to be held in 2026. This regulation aims to increase the political representation power of the local population.
A comprehensive strategic plan will be prepared for nickel, the island's most important underground resource. This resource is of great importance for the economic independence and sustainable development of New Caledonia.
