A series of gaffes: Joe Biden puts an end to calls to withdraw from the race

US President Joe Biden, who hosted the NATO Summit held in the US capital, Washington, held his first solo press conference since November.

Biden, who appeared before the cameras in the shadow of calls to withdraw from the presidential race due to his age, began his highly anticipated speech with statements regarding the NATO Summit.

Describing the summit, which was held to celebrate NATO's 75th anniversary, as a "great success," Biden said the alliance has made the world a safer and freer place. Addressing the NATO member countries, Biden said, "They knew that together we would all be safer. An attack on one would be considered an attack on all." He continued, "And it worked. Because enemies know that if they attack one of us, they will be attacked by all of us. Sending this message is the best way to deter aggression and prevent wars. Those who thought NATO's time had passed had a wake-up call when Putin invaded Ukraine."

"MY PREDECESSOR IS NOT COMMITTED TO NATO"

Emphasizing that NATO has become an ever-growing security alliance, Biden said, "Some heads of state thanked the US and me personally in their statements for everything NATO has achieved. NATO is not just stronger; NATO is bigger. Because we led the way for Finland and Sweden to join the alliance." Criticizing his rival in the upcoming election and former US President Donald Trump without naming him, Biden said, "By the way, my predecessor has made it clear that he has no commitment to NATO. He clearly stated that he would not feel obligated to fulfill Article 5, referring to the mutual defense agreement contained in the NATO alliance treaty."

"I WILL BEAT TRUMP AGAIN"

Putting an end to calls to withdraw from the US presidential race due to his advanced age, Biden emphasized that he would complete the race. "I think I am the most qualified person to run for president. I beat Trump once and I will beat him again," said Biden, adding, "I will continue on my path." Stating that he would remain in the race unless there was strong evidence that it was impossible for him to win, Biden referred to the possibility of losing by saying, "No one is saying that. No poll is saying that." Noting that there are other people who could beat Trump, Biden pointed to the ongoing election marathon and said, "But starting from scratch is very difficult."

USED TRUMP'S NAME INSTEAD OF HARRIS

Earlier in the day, Biden, who accidentally introduced Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as Russian President Vladimir Putin, used the phrase "Vice President Trump" instead of Kamala Harris in response to a question during the press conference. Correcting his mistake, Biden stated that Vice President Kamala Harris was qualified to be president, saying, "I wouldn't have picked her if I didn't think she was qualified to be president, I've had no hesitation about that from the beginning. She has the qualifications to be president. That's why I picked her."

"ISRAEL DID NOT COOPERATE"

When asked whether he would take a different stance regarding Israel's attacks on Gaza, Biden said that the Israeli government did not always cooperate with efforts to allow more aid into Gaza. Biden said, "We have pushed very hard for efforts to get more humanitarian aid into Gaza, but Israel has not always cooperated at times."
