Accident during live broadcast: Reporter and cameraman injured after being struck by vehicle

Two journalists working on a live broadcast in the city of Monterrey, in the Mexican state of Nuevo León, were injured after being struck by a vehicle that lost control on a wet road.

The incident occurred on Friday morning at the intersection of Morones Prieto Avenue and Pedro Martínez Avenue. Reporter Alma Mireya de la Rosa and cameraman Cristo Morales, who were doing a live broadcast for Gamavisión, were preparing for their segment in an area with active traffic when the accident occurred.

According to reports in the Mexican press, a vehicle traveling on the road, which had become slippery due to rain, skidded and struck the two journalists. The moment of the accident was captured on the live broadcast, and the broadcast camera remained on the ground for approximately 7 seconds after the impact.

The anchor in the studio, Mario Gámez, experienced a brief moment of panic while relaying what happened to the viewers. Gámez announced that reporter De la Rosa and cameraman Morales had been struck by a vehicle, saying, "We have just witnessed an accident on live television."

HEALTH STATUS ANNOUNCED

Following the accident, Monterrey Civil Protection teams and Red Cross paramedics were dispatched to the scene. De la Rosa and Morales received initial treatment and were subsequently taken to a private hospital for further care.

In a statement on her social media account, Alma Mireya de la Rosa described it as a great stroke of luck that she and her cameraman survived. De la Rosa stated, "It is a miracle that we are alive."

It was reported that reporter De la Rosa sustained numerous bruises and that evaluations regarding potential fractures are ongoing. Cameraman Cristo Morales was reported to have sustained some fractures, but his condition is stable.

Anchor Mario Gámez also visited the hospital to receive information about the condition of his colleagues. Gámez announced that the two journalists were injured and had experienced great fear, but that their lives were not in danger.

The driver of the vehicle, who is said to have caused the accident, was reported to be a 19-year-old male. The driver, who reportedly lost control of the vehicle on the wet road, was taken into custody by authorities in Monterrey following the incident. An investigation into the accident has been launched.
