Ahmadinejad registers his candidacy in Iran

Former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who has applied to run again in the presidential election to be held on June 28 despite having his candidacy vetoed twice in the past, was a controversial figure both in Iran and globally during his two terms in office from 2005 to 2013.
Ahmadinejad, who is considered a potential strong candidate if his candidacy is approved, stated at a press conference held after the registration process that he filed his application as a result of requests from many segments of the public for him to become president again.
"I AM CONFIDENT THAT I CAN SOLVE THE PROBLEMS"
Ahmadinejad said, "I am confident that all of the country's problems can be solved by utilizing national capacities to the maximum extent."
Ahmadinejad, who served as the Mayor of Tehran between 2003 and 2005 before being elected president, became the country's sixth president by winning the presidential election in June 2005 against former President Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani.
