AI solves problem that took scientists years in just two days
It has been reported that the "co-scientist" AI tool launched by Google solved a bacterial problem that microbiologists had spent 10 years investigating in just two days.

According to a BBC report, Professor Jose Penades and his team at Imperial College London's Faculty of Medicine had been researching for 10 years how certain bacteria, known as "superbugs" resistant to antibiotics, are formed.
Penades stated that as a result of their research, they reached the conclusion that "superbugs" form a tail from different viruses, which allows them to spread among living organisms.
Stating that the idea was unique to the research team and had not been published in open sources, Penades noted that they directed the research topic to Google's "co-scientist" AI tool, and the tool reached this conclusion in two days.
Penades reported that he sent an email to Google asking if they had access to his personal computer and received a negative response from the company.
Stating that the AI tool did not just imitate his own research but also presented an idea they had never thought of, Penades expressed that they have started working on this new idea.
Penades said that people initially "approached artificial intelligence with fear," adding, "But when you think about it, you see that you have an extremely powerful tool. I feel that this (artificial intelligence) will definitely change science."
