Allied nations sign agreements exceeding $50 billion at NATO Defense Industry Forum

The NATO Defense Industry Forum (NSDIF 2026), held in Ankara, witnessed significant decisions by allied nations aimed at increasing joint production, technology development, and procurement capacity in the defense industry. At the forum, which aims to strengthen the alliance's deterrence, new projects and investment plans were announced in many areas ranging from air defense to unmanned systems, and from strategic transport to space technologies.
$50 billion in defense agreements signed
The most notable development of the forum was the announcement of an agreement and investment package totaling $50 billion between NATO allies and defense industry companies. Within the scope of the package, numerous contracts were signed for air defense systems, solutions to be developed against unmanned aerial vehicles, joint production projects, strategic transport capabilities, and high-tech investments.
$40 billion anti-drone investment made
NATO announced that it will implement a $40 billion investment program to strengthen its joint defense capacity against threats posed by unmanned aerial vehicles. The program aims to develop anti-drone systems, training infrastructure, and joint operational capabilities for allied nations.
At the forum, the program for next-generation platforms to replace NATO's current Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) fleet was also officially launched. The new systems are intended to strengthen the alliance's air surveillance, command-and-control, and early warning capabilities in the long term.
NATO also announced that it would add Triton unmanned aerial vehicles to its inventory to increase its intelligence, reconnaissance, and surveillance capacity. In addition, new initiatives were announced at the forum regarding the development of space capabilities, increasing strategic air transport capacity, and expanding joint production and R&D collaborations in the field of defense technologies among allied nations.
