Anti-Assad armed groups begin entering Aleppo city center

Anti-regime armed groups, which have been advancing toward the center of Aleppo from the west while clashing with regime forces for three days, broke through the regime's defense lines in the outer neighborhoods of Hamdaniya, New Aleppo, and Zahraa around noon and entered the center of Aleppo from these points.

The groups also captured the town of Saraqib, located at the intersection of the M4 and M5 highways southeast of Idlib, after surrounding it from the north and south.

108 SETTLEMENTS AND POINTS CAPTURED IN ALEPPO AND IDLIB IN 3 DAYS

In the clashes that have been ongoing for 3 days, the armed groups have captured a total of 108 settlements and points, including 86 in the Aleppo countryside and 22 in Idlib.

During this period, anti-regime groups have taken control of an area of at least 850 square kilometers in the provinces of Aleppo and Idlib.

Meanwhile, 8 members of the Syrian National Army were killed in an airstrike conducted by Russian warplanes on the town of Mare in northern Aleppo this evening.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

The clashes first began on the morning of November 27 in the western countryside of Aleppo province.

Advancing rapidly from the western countryside of Aleppo toward the center on November 27-28, the anti-regime armed groups had also captured numerous regions in the Idlib countryside starting from the second day of the clashes.

As the clashes began to intensify in the center of Aleppo, many people close to the regime had begun fleeing from Aleppo to Damascus.

The anti-regime armed groups, which entered the Aleppo city center around noon, had reached the central parts of the city by the evening hours.
