An armed attack was carried out at the Annunciation Catholic School, a private elementary school in Minneapolis, in the US state of Minnesota.
Following reports of the attack, numerous police and ambulance teams were dispatched to the area. An official from the US Department of Justice stated that, according to initial findings, 3 people lost their lives and 20 were injured in the attack, adding that the attacker was among the deceased.
The new academic year had begun two days ago at the school, which has approximately 395 students. Local media reported that the attack took place while the children were at a morning mass.
US President Donald Trump stated that he had been briefed on the attack, saying, "The FBI has responded quickly to the incident and they are currently on the scene. The White House will continue to monitor this horrific event."
