Armed attacks in India: 4 dead, 20 injured

Manipur police made a statement regarding the attacks on their X social media platform account. According to the statement, 4 people were killed and 14 were injured in an attack by armed individuals in the Thoubal region of the state. In an attack by armed groups against security forces in the Tengnoupal region, 6 security personnel were injured.


Violence in Manipur

Violent incidents began on May 3 after protests launched by the Meitei community, which makes up 53 percent of the state's population, over their exclusion from the "Scheduled Tribe" category were opposed by other ethnic groups.

In the state where the military was given "shoot-on-sight" orders on May 4, the death toll from the violence has risen to 182, while more than 60 thousand people have been displaced.

India's Central Bureau of Investigation had formed a 53-person team to investigate numerous cases related to the violent incidents occurring in Manipur state.
