Artificial intelligence identified targets in US operation against Iran
It has emerged that advanced artificial intelligence technologies were used in the attacks launched by the US military against Iran, and that 1,000 targets were struck within the first 24 hours through these systems.

According to a report by Euronews, sources speaking to the American newspaper The Washington Post stated that the Pentagon utilized some of the most advanced artificial intelligence tools it has ever used in warfare during the first day of the attack. The infrastructure used by the US military, called the Maven Smart System (MSS), was developed by the data mining company Palantir. The system, which analyzes massive amounts of classified data from satellite imagery, surveillance networks, and other intelligence sources, provides real-time targeting and prioritization support for military operations.
Claude identified the targets
It was stated that the language model named Claude, developed by the artificial intelligence company Anthropic, is at the center of the system. According to the sources, while attack plans against Iran were being prepared, the Claude-powered Maven system suggested hundreds of potential targets, determined the exact coordinates of these targets, and ranked them according to their strategic importance. The system also has the capability to analyze the impact of the operation on the ground after the attack begins.
However, US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday, hours before the attacks began, that he had banned the use of Anthropic's tools in federal agencies. The decision was reportedly driven by the company's refusal to approve the use of artificial intelligence in mass domestic surveillance and fully autonomous weapons systems. It is stated that the Pentagon will continue to use these tools until new replacement systems are fully operational.
"Targeting process has moved to machine speed"
Paul Scharre, an expert at the US-based think tank Center for a New American Security, evaluated this radical transformation created by artificial intelligence on the battlefield with the following words:
"Artificial intelligence has moved from being a theoretical concept to a tool that supports real operations. The biggest change is that targeting processes have shifted from human speed to machine speed."
Scharre pointed out that artificial intelligence could make mistakes in life-or-death decisions, emphasizing that the system must remain under human supervision.
